You can find the incomprehensible post by clicking here.
I don't think a person could post something this inane unless they are drinking or on drugs (legal or otherwise), although Casey can surprise us even when he is not under the influence of various mind-altering substances. For example, he thought it was a perfectly reasonable idea to go to the park dressed up as a pirate (and a very ugly one at that) for his birthday, and I assume he was clean and sober, at least until he showed up at the park. It would have been perfectly reasonable about 8 hours ago, but not around Labor Day.
If the person who hired him knows about the blog (and Casey said he was an "old friend" but I think Casey uses that term with almost everyone he has previously met), I don't see how the guy doesn't look at the latest blog post and figures out that something is seriously wrong with Casey's mental state. Even if Casey didn't tell him about the blog, all that his boss needs to do is type "Casey Serin" into Google and the island2012 website comes up as the fifth link on the first page. On Yahoo, it ranks #12.
Perhaps his boss only cares about how much commissions Casey can generate assuming the job is partly based on commission (I believe either Casey or his brother implied this earlier). Depending on the structure of the job, his boss may not care what Casey does outside of work as long as he shows up on time...in other words, he may not care if Casey would fail a piss test as long as Casey generates decent revenue for the company.
However, just wait for a day where there is a "misunderstanding" and Casey doesn't show up. And then, without warning, Casey may feel the need to throw him under the bus just like everyone else.

Amen to that, you are spot on sir.
ReplyDeleteI find it sad in some ways, that his family refuse to see what many outsiders can. Casey has mood swings and has mental health issues. His family refuse to acknowledge this either because of their background or religious beliefs or both. Yet outsiders like myself can see the pattern. At present he is on a down swing, which is probably why he has been persuaded to take a job. This will last for several weeks if not months. It has the side benefit for Casey of giving him somewhere to live over the next few months and not be too embarrassing for the rest of the family at Thanksgiving and over the Holidays. The Island idea will get abandoned. Sometime next spring a new idea will form and a mood upswing will result in a new project and new websites next spring or summer. Such is the circle of life of the Casey Serin.
I find it sad also. Regarding the mood swings, I only recall IAFF up and running during the winter months so I wonder if he has seasonal depression on top of everything else.
ReplyDeleteHe took down the island2012 blog but I don't think he's abandoned the idea. He still has a couple years to milk this thing.
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I will try to post regularly.
